    VPN and Blue Iris

the windoze 11 computer is on an 'appliance' SSID, not isolated. thx. it does seem 'best practice' to install VPN on the router. tail scale uses wireguard protocol.

    VPN and Blue Iris

actually have done this via hardware. the SL router is in the shed since the trees obscure the house. it connects to the tp-link Gateway which connects to a WiFi bridge to get to the house which connects to an AP in the house for the computers. the IPcams are all outside on one other AP...

    VPN and Blue Iris

dude, love the 'handle' looney2ns. used to watch them as a kid. just discovered that there can be 'issues' with StarLink as the broadband provider. last year, the network was 'improved' by following suggestions made here by those that have expertise as NEs. these were done. the above link...

    VPN and Blue Iris

so this is very likely the wrong place for this, but it seemed as if it might be 'helped' to the right spot. it seems a good time to subscribe to a VPN but with some software being so persnickety, i wondered if BI might be problematic with one. it is on a win11 computer that does nothing but...

    Funxwe 4k 8mp on amazon

idk if it tracks motion at night since the light is very subdued. compared to the IR night vision cameras, this screen is mostly black. it is a good camera for day time & might be ok in the next spot.

    Funxwe 4k 8mp on amazon

Color Night Vision. it does have some ir, but it is weak compared to the other cameras here with only IR. i have to manually switch it to an ir mode. so it will be relocated to an area with a sentinel light. as stated, if you live in an urban area with a good amount of light from street...

How to block my IP cameras from the internet and my local network?

just wanted to add that for over a month now the WiFi PtZ ip cameras mounted outdoors have been using the 255.255.255.128 mask and function just fine with Blue Iris 6.0 software. if the cameras need to be accessed, one computer has a wifi configuration with this mask & only sees these devices...

    Funxwe 4k 8mp on amazon

i bought one of the cameras listed on Amazon as (funxwe 8MP 4K 30X Optical Zoom Security PTZ Wireless IP Camera, 2.4GHz 5GHz Dual WiFi for only $139 new.) this is a rural area with NO street lights and acreage with dirt roads and very little asphalt to be found. so this is a different venue...

WTB PTZ425DB-AT or 25X PTZ Camera

the wall wart is included with these cameras. so they just need to be near a plug.

WTB PTZ425DB-AT or 25X PTZ Camera

i had some questions & sent an email to the company. below are what they sent. the IR on this one is weak in comparison to the other cameras in use, but it pans MUCH faster than those.

How to block my IP cameras from the internet and my local network?

'hacking' ip addresses/masks is new to me. done LANs for a long time, but simple ones up to 100 or so users max in an office park (token ring). but with the WWW we do ethernet & WiFi mostly. anyway tech_junkie indicated that if the mask was the same as the gateway mask, they could or might...
