Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

I've had it happen a few times where I want the camera to go barely to the left or barely go right and it just takes off on its own. One time I actually had to unplug the camera from the NVR to get it to stop; probably went around at least 12 times! Once I plugged the camera back in, I carefully and slowly reversed the direction 12 times or so (after reviewing saved footage). I'm thinking the interal wiring was getting twisted so I wanted to undo the twisting.
I’ve had this happen but only when using the BI app or when I’m remotely connected to my BI PC from my phone or laptop when I’m out of town. I think it’s a lag/connection quality issue. It’s like it picks up the initial click to move the PTZ but it never sees the “unclick” so it just keeps spinning.

I’ve never had it happen when controlling the PTZ from my home BI PC.

So maybe a bad connection? Issue with switch or cables or connectors?

Randomly have had this happen on multiple PTZs from the cheap Mini up to $2000 6/8 series

Its the connection from the program your'e using, gets the Go signal and misses the STOP signal

I know the sensor is not ideal... I've gotta work with what I have.

Any recommended image adjustments to help with night quality? It's all stock setting. Lower light availability. Day time is great.

Thanks

Buy a big ass IR illuminator - I have 2 of these PTZs and one for a buddy. Low light/nighttime is not their strong point

Thats what lights up this scene on a 5442, I actually have to tone it down a bit its so strong.
120ft to the big tree almost dead center

@wittaj do you have an updated list keeping to the similar form factor of the PTZ425DB-AT with improved night performance?

Sadly there have been no newer models out that are worthy of what we expect - many of them continue to be introduced that are on the less than ideal MP/sensor ratios and have also toyed them up with red/blue flashing lights and what not.

While not as discrete in its profile , what is the perspective of the PTZA225-HNR-XA for its night performance vs. PTZ425DB-AT ?

The night performance of it is very good. That is essentially the well-thought of 49225 in a different form factor. People would still buy the 49225 if it were being sold with auto tracking still.

If staying under $600 is the goal along with low light performance, that would be it.
