PoE cable routing in Australian homes

Two different people posting similar information with the same guy in the pictures. It look suspicious. https://www.ipcamtalk.com/threads/recommended-mounting-height-for-security-cameras.85654/unread

PoE cable routing in Australian homes

Yea, you will use one of those two standards because they're the only two... I found similar information. I believe most patch cables are T568B, so it would likely be best to use that standard over the older T568A, especially for new installs.

Is T568B not the standard ethernet wiring order used in Australia?

Mail theft revisited 2020 long version ...for those who may not know

I had this issue with a couple of my cameras. My flag's shadow would constantly trigger a few front cameras so they were essentially just recording 100% main stream instead of sub+trigger.

Looking for ideas on monitoring driveway.

Night coverage is possible with the right camera. This area is very, very low light and a B54IR-Z4E is able to capture people 65' away without issue.

Thoughts/opinions/advice on outdoor enclosure for power/ethernet

I was mostly insistent on that position because I wanted to permanently run power and ethernet. If I am not going to do that, then I can put it anywhere there works/makes sense. Not running conduit is waaay easier than running it. Especially since I would need to go under the house walk, the...

Thoughts/opinions/advice on outdoor enclosure for power/ethernet

Most people don't understand the difference between easement and public right-of-way. Also, you can't be told no if you don't ask... But, you are correct, that is not my property. I did get a permit to place irrigation sprinklers there, but that was several years ago. My property stops just on...

Mail theft revisited 2020 long version ...for those who may not know

Oh yea, I forgot resolution. That is a factor as well. Storage span can also vary with trigger frequency. I get a lot more triggers from cameras covering the yard during the summer than in the winter, so I will likely lose some days depending on how many kids are running around.

Mail theft revisited 2020 long version ...for those who may not know

Continuous vs Continous + Trigger is one way. Larger storage is also a factor. I have some cameras record Continuous Main Stream and others that record Continuous in Sub and then switch to Main when triggered. Across my 40? cameras and 58TB of storage I have about 6 weeks of video I can go back...

Thoughts/opinions/advice on outdoor enclosure for power/ethernet

I am looking to get into projection mapping and for this I would like to run power and ethernet to near my mailbox for where I plan to place the projector enclosure. I am building and installing an enclosure similar to this one. It would be removable and only require a single extension cord and...

Merged/Spanned Disks in BlueIris - Possible?

I was more worried about losing footage due to time deletion than a drive crapping out. I originally had three 8TB drives in a RAID 5 set up, which allowed for 16TB of storage. I now have a JBOD of 58TB that, depending on a camera's schedule and triggers, allows me to hold over a month on a...

WTSHTF : 11 Items That Vanish From Walmart in the First 6 Hours of Grid Collapse (What Veterans Grab Instead)

I had enough toilet paper on the shelf from just my normal purchasing that I never needed to buy toilet paper during all of that. However, I did need to buy it for work, and it was a pain getting enough. Sam's limited you to 1 bundle and my response was "there are 15 or 20 asses to wipe at work...

I successfully returned my Ring doorbell from 2019 for a full refund.

This is related to my post about ditching my Ring doorbell, but I thought it needed its own thread. I was able to successfully get a full refund on my Ring Doorbell that I purchased in 2019. I had decided to just remove the doorbell, let it sit in a box, and cut my losses, but after watching a...

Merged/Spanned Disks in BlueIris - Possible?

I started with a RAID set up, but then decided to just combine them into JBOD. I don't remember how many drives I have spanned, but BI just sees it as the assigned drive letter and doesn't care.

    New Construction Feedback

^^ Everything he said. I have a PTZ on the front corner of my house to hopefully get better captures of people at distance (and be nosy when I am sitting at my PC). My main circle of security is around my home and in my yard, but if the PTZ can get details beyond that then it is a bonus. It is...

I use a T54IR-AS in the kitchen/living room space and another in the loft. The playroom has a K42A cube. My office has an E3241 wedge, no reason other than I had one. The basement has some other spare cams.

Get rid of your Ring, Arlo, Tapo, Blink (or other cloud cameras) and reclaim your privacy!

I have had some friends ask about non-cloud solutions that do not require an NVR and have remote access. What are people using for SD card cameras and how is remote access achieved?

I decided to ditch Ring and made my dumb doorbell smart with Hubitat and Blue Iris

I kept getting "ghost" alerts with no one in the capture. Apparently the girl across the street is too short to be in frame when ringing the doorbell... I've decided to try rotating the camera to corridor mode, but I can't get it to update in Blue Iris. It looks fine in the GUI. I had no issues...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I have a Unifi gateway, so I was able to use Teleport (Wireguard) through their Wifiman app. All I did was generate a link in the settings on my gateway, emailed that to my phone, then the app did the rest. I didn't need to set anything up, and there aren't really any settings in their app, just...
