Buyer Beware: Fake Optical Zoom Modules

In fairness to the camera, that's not too bad a picture in daytime from that shot. Hard to tell sharpness from the balcony railings alone as it's likely focused further out in that shot anyway. Whether with someone in the foreground, movement or at night it's as good is another matter. But if...

Interesting Youtube Post - End of PC's?

Yoiutube post from Gamers Nexus Steve. Whilst probably concerning Gaming more than anything, it nevertheless has implications for the existence of PC's and therefore by extension the ability to run IP CCTV:

Moving BIv6 to new Win 11 PC

I tried H265 and it looked great until one day I walked close to the camera, where it promptly stuttered all over with macro blocks as the encoding couldn't keep up/ didn't like the rapid motion, After that, I reverted to h264 and not had a sinle encoding issue since. Before someone says I was...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

The 4kt in terms of size is still small. Many phones and action and drone cameras are on 1 inch sensors which whilst only slightly larger than 1/1.2" seems to give gains. Even then the best cameras are on 35mm given even sensors larger than 1" don't seem to come close to the best 35mm...

Clear voice intelligibility in noisy gym reception – 8MP turret IP camera with best built-in microphone?

Yeah you have to consider picture quality as well. In a well lit area in the day it should be fine. At night it could be another matter unless lighting is either present or set to come on if a break in / person is detected. If relying on ambient or low level lighting, the night image could be a...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Said it before, the only thing that will change any of this is a tranisition to larger sensors. No matter what you do, to quote Startrek "You canny beat the Laws of Physics". Larger Pixels = more light captured period = brighter image = faster shutter speed / lower gain possible. If it was any...

I agree. It shouldn't be a case of don't buy. If it meets your needs fine, buy it. It just doesn't replace the current best which is the 5442. Everything has it's place.

Crazy Shooting - Neighbors house hit

It's become a cult thing in the UK atm thanks to a guy who went with one in Ibiza, and Gen Z thought he looked liked the final boss in a video game. He's made a fortune out of it from no-where and is now a cult figure named the Ibiza Final Boss...

Great clips! This strengthens my previous opinion that what may be happening is the Pro is managing low light by boosting Gain etc, then AI is smoothing the noise out (along with the detail). At least that's my interpretation. The actual mechanim could be different but to my eyes that's what I'm...

Apart from the sharpness and the daylight Gain, those settings almost mirror the 4kt's I run. I can't remember daylight NR settings off the top though. That daylight shot looks a lot more like what I'd expect from a camera of this calibre. Be interesting to see what the night looks like.

Unfortunately as much as I want to like it I still see issues even with the new Firmware. With smart illumination "on", walking away (bearing in mind it's just jeans and a white shirt so not much to show up issues), the picture looks great until it turns to IR then ghosting occurs. I'm guessing...

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

I hadn't noticed it was the 54Pro. Might have been a bit gentler if I had, In fairness, it's the shutter & gain that are the issues there. You could reproduce that on any camera if you push the settings too far. All it shows is that it's not capable of running full colour successfully at that...

WizColor 2.0 is coming (15 April)

I agree. I could make my 4KT's look like noon on a suny day with 300 lumens of light if I wanted to. The trick would be to increase gain and slow shutter. I run 4ms or 1/250th at night on 300 lumens of light!!! I could easily slow the shutter to maybe 1/25 and increase gain to say 70 & get...
