Question on IVS and SMD difference between them and applications

Sorry, wasn't thinking of other threads. I'm old... And thanks for clarification re IVS, etc. If you or someone can direct me to a useful manual, I'll bite the bullet and invest the time to work this stuff out for myself. But thanks for the help.

Question on IVS and SMD difference between them and applications

It seems that there's some disagreement re SMD vs/plus IVS. (See previous discussion on this site). So it's OK to have both? I've now got just one rule in IVS: intrusion. And in SMD, it's Enabled ('AI by Camera'), high sensitivity, human only checked. This has been like this all along, but...

VIP/Dahua - how to reset (and make sense of the settings...)

wittaj, I don't want to take up your time, so perhaps I just have to invest the time studying the instructions/guide. Where do I find such a guide? Does the Dahua version suffice?

VIP/Dahua - how to reset (and make sense of the settings...)

wittaj, thanks for the reply. And no, I haven't turned off motion detection because for someone operating at my level of expertise, that would seem to be exactly what I want... And I don't recall coming across 'Smart motion detection' but I'll go in and see if I can find it. And the number of...

VIP/Dahua - how to reset (and make sense of the settings...)

The cameras came with the VIP NVR. They supposedly have 'AI', but I use actual AI, and I know that if VIP does have actual AI, it would have no trouble whatsoever distinguishing between a shadow and a human... The cameras are VIP Pro AI, Turret IP cameras, 8MP, 2.8mm, model H08-VSIPP-8DG-ID4...

VIP/Dahua - how to reset (and make sense of the settings...)

Greetings IPCT folk. I have a VIP/rebranded Dahua NVR and cameras. I've had nothing but trouble with this thing. Constant false alarms - even when there is nothing in the playback. Inability to reliably identify humans (vs shadows, vehicles, etc.) - even though humans have been nominated, not...

Adding extra camera - "IP camera does not exist..." but it's plugged in

Thanks again rearanger. Yep, done all that. NVR is set to default of plug and play, and D3 is still 'detecting'. I have four IP addresses assigned to the four cameras, but they are internal only at this stage - 128.XXX.X.X, and those IP addresses aren't stopping D1 and D2 from working. And those...

Adding extra camera - "IP camera does not exist..." but it's plugged in

Thanks rearanger. I'm not using SADP, and that didn't stop me from getting the first two cameras going. I just stumbled upon a PoE page, and it was 'Off' for camera 3/D3. Now D3 is 'detecting', but, sadly, not finding... To be honest, I gave up on the instructions that came with the NVR and just...

Adding extra camera - "IP camera does not exist..." but it's plugged in

Greetings forum members. I have 7604 Hikvision NVR, with two cameras producing images (2 X 2055FWD-I). Those two cameras just started working by plugging them into the NVR. A third camera is plugged in in the same manner, but not visible. When I click on D3, I'm told "IP Camera does not exist"...

    Forgot password - factory reset...?

Thanks Alistair. I'm using Linux desktop, and I gather that there isn't a Linux version of SADP. When you ask: 'how do you plan to do that', are you indicating that a factory reset isn't any use without SADP? If so, what am I left with, given that I'm not using SADP/Windows...?

    Forgot password - factory reset...?

Greetings forum members. I've forgotten my recently hastily reset password. I'm just using the NVR (that is, no PC, no internet connection to the NVR or cameras). Question: Will a factory reset allow me to use defaults (admin, 12345)? Seems too easy, compared to the very complicated solutions...
