Need a little help with motion/Triggers and record setting

Two things...
1. I have two cameras IPC-HDW5231RN-Z. One points down the length of the house, one down the driveway.
When I leave my house to take the dogs out, It does not detect motion or trigger an alert.
When I come back the same route, It detects me and the dogs. I get an alert and recording on the computer.

2. How far away can I expect the cameras to detect motion? It's about 100' down the length of the house.
When it does pick me up on the return, it only starts around 20' from the camera.
What settings do I have wrong. Thanks

Don't use Edge Vector and instead use simple.

Adjust contrast. Make it lower.

Without you showing the field of view, if when you leave and first enter the field of view, if you are more than 67% it will reset and not trigger. Uncheck that box as it is to eliminate false triggers and you have the opposite going on.

wittaj - Thanks again. It's working better now. I now have to figure out what settings to change to make things identify better with AI.​

I have two medium sized black dogs. When AI identifies them, sometimes they are identified as dogs, cats, birds, or bears. I can see dogs or bears, because they're black, but birds or cats. (that would be a big as$ cat). When the dogs run down the driveway, It doesn't pick them up at all (they are fast). What setting could I play with to try and get them identified when running, or are fast moving objects not identifiable?
