I just realized my link doesn't work anymore. I have switched to TailScale from OpenVPN due to ATT fiber issues.

Think I need to change my LAN settings so that it accesses via the TailScale IP not the LAN IP.

For some reason, since switching to Tailscale, I have to use the Local BI IP to access UI3 when at home on the network and then when I am gone, connected to Tailscale, I have to use the UI3 link with tailscale IP. Quite annoying...

Been there,
I use my ddns address for my WAN, and &WAN in message links. YMMV.

So, I need to retrieve my public IP of my BI PC and then enter it in that form?

I use to use No-IP on my Netgear router, but since switching to Fiber and not yet having my own router...then I have been limited. Maybe you can help me iron this out in a DM?

I use my tailscale IP (100.69.xx.xx) in all the webserver fields... the Lan, Adapters, and WAN (though I don't think the WAN one matters) I see UI3 both on my home net (with tailscale running all the time) as well as away from home (again, with tailscale running on laptop, phone, etc) accessing Blue Iris UI3 with the tailscale IP of the BI server. Note that sometimes after an update of BI the webserver will revert to the local 192.168 IP, so I have to check it after an update. (Ken had suggested that this might be from BI webserver not seeing Tailscale running yet and selects another net instead, but I tried setting BI's service to delay and it didn't seem to help that)

This make sense and I always read the WAN doesn’t matter if you are VPN/Tailscale and only matters if you are opening ports or using the BI mobile app. I think….

The difference here may be that you run Tailscale always on your phone. Do you have an iPhone; if so, do you see battery differences running the VPN on always?

I have an Android, and I have not noticed Tailscale running down my charge. It might , I just I haven't noticed or tested. (I did use Zerotier previously, and that also ran full time (well, sometimes after a reboot I needed to turn it back on), but I don't see a difference power wise. I do like Tailscale better... folks here talked me into it and I'm happy they did:)

It works if I just leave tailscale connected always on my phone. Then of course I can just use the tailscale IP for UI3 whether home or away.

correct. You could turn Tailscale off on the phone, and just flip it on when needing to access UI3 if worried about drain. Tailscale support says it's an issue if running TS as Exit Mode... I do not.

My issue with this is, if I turn it off while home, then I cannot use the same shortcut/IP for UI3, then I have to use a different shortcut pointing to the local IP
