its a NSC-278-DMZF1 that sits above the back door and looks at the back stairs and i would like to see what is out there as we are loaded with Bears, panthers and coyotes. the existing camera is a dome that has yellowed but it really does not see well in the dark. what do you recommned ?

audio would be nice and so would the ability to see that full range

good on alerts are a must as some of the bears are 500 pounds plus

Does it need to be in color?

Have you tried a motion flood?

I have motion lights but the bears and panthers are not bothered by the lights and I would really like color as we have acute little raccoon that looks a little like a lost baby

Yeah, not to scare the critters, to light things up so you can run color with a good image like a 5442 AS S2
The S2 version switches to color faster (with less light) than the current S3 models
Shown with 3400 lumen motion flood

But the newer S3 bullet has brighter IR - if you can get 4000-5000 lumens it will be awesome in color

Even the newer 54PRO, given enough external light, can do well.

Is it my eyes or does the right side of that image look blurry? Birdhouse and trees...

My Dahua, Hik, and other brand cameras miss wildlife all the time. I don't know if that's something that could be fixed with AI, but I wouldn't trust any of my cameras to alert me to any kind of animal being in the area. I do trust my thermal cameras when they alert to motion - I know it's something real, and not just a shadow. In addition to whatever camera you end up with, I'd add a couple thermal cameras that cover the entire area and then mount a display at the door so I could look for any heat signatures before stepping outside. Thermal shows so much more than just visual cameras especially in dark settings.

most likely cause I have the dome off of it because with the dome on all you see is a white haze . that has happened to all my Hikvision cameras the domes have turned yellow after about 4 years ,
