Another B52IR Z12 failing

As the title says, another B52IR-Z12 is giving up the ghost. This is the 3rd one since last year. It's fine and then goes black and comes back on. The off time varies - from a few seconds up to a minute. The recording timeline verifies that the camera stops outputting a signal as the timeline has quite a few dropouts

I wonder what the failure point is?
I'm sitting on 2 old 5231 z-12's that were bought from somebody on the forum.
They fogged over night. Buyer beware.

I took the cameras apart to replace desiccant ( moisture absorbers) bags.
Of course being a good addict, If more is better,
too much is just right.
So added in extra desiccant pouches were i could fit them.

I left one outside clamped to a workmate for about a month and decided it was no longer fogging up.

The second one I left outside for the entire winter until things began to melt. to see if long term I actually fixed anything.

Now here they sit waiting for me to get up the gumption to pull another run of cable.
( at twilight when the neighbors go to the cabin/ & away from the prying eyes of the townhouse/apartments across the street.)

maybe you'd be better off with an old one?

These are mounted to a post which is attached to our fence, so they are out in the open, no cover whatsoever.
 
Something else is going on. Losing 3 of those in a year is unheard of.

I have 5, 2 from 2017, all exposed to the elements no problem.

Connections getting corroded?

Why is your timeline practically full time yellow? MD is full time activating...
Do you not have IVS?

We probably asked before LOL, but outside with no protection - how was the connection made - dielectric grease on connections in a junction box or just hanging in the breeze?

Dielectric grease and glands inside junction boxes that were sealed with caulk. I have not had the chance to go out and climb the ladder, but if water was able to intrude with 4 levels of protection, I would guess the camera has a problem or there's nothing I can do to prevent water intrusion.

Will have to wait on climbing a ladder to see if in fact there is a water issue, as I have a double hernia with surgery scheduled for June 24th. They don't want me aggravating the issue by doing things like climbing ladders and lifting things. I am on very light duty

Yeah, I would think the same as far as 3 failing. And they were all installed at different locations.

Regarding the motion, I think because it has been really windy here today and the sun keeps getting blocked by the clouds. The MD picks both of those up. I have to run MD because the LPR cams will not trigger at night with IVS

Well you did admit for a Z4E that water was in the junction box, so it is likely it has happened to your others even if water isn't present when you can finally get them down.

I have learned over the years that water has a way of getting into anything.

Well, unscrewed the camera from the junction box and guess what came out the bottom? Water. I don't understand how water got into the junction box as they have a rubber seal on the cover. Something wasn't aligned correctly or something. The connector had water in it as well - but only to that camera. The overview camera connector and main connector were both dry.

When I brought the camera in to check it on the bench with an external POE switch the first time, it worked fine, so I took it back out put dielectric grease on all the connections and reinstalled it. It didn't work. I tried...

While the picture on the post is older showing only one cam to the right, there are now 2 cameras there now. The second pic is of the setup on the bench. It replaces the white Turret cam on the right

Not to drift the thread off topic, but I may be too dense to toggle IVS day/ MD night. So I'm using both simultaneously. I'm thinkin that be using a one of the 6 or 7 schedules I see floating around in some menu somewhere?

I don't understand how water is finding its way in. I completely sealed the box with caulk and the box has it's original seal as well

Gotta have a day and a night profile on most any camera.

What Camera and what NVR? Older gray UI or the new Blue and White?

Both the old UI and the new should allow you to specify IVS and MD by a schedule.

I do overlap both at night on one camera, I never run MD during the day and rarely on any other cameras
