I have a 6 camera IP/POE setup which has been working perfectly well for many years, last week one of the cameras went offline. I got round to investigating today and have found the following:-
If I take one of the other cameras down and connect it to the cable of the faulting camera the swapped camera works as expected (cable assumed ok as a result of this test).
If I then connect the faulting camera to the other cameras cable the faulting camera does not work (faulty camera assumed at this point).
If I take the faulting camera to the NVR and connect it with a short patch cable (500mm) the faulting camera works (confusion reigns).
When the faulting camera is connected to a longer cable, the orange and green lights on the NVR network port light up and flicker occasionally but don't match the activity indicated on the other 5 cameras. It looks like its powering up but there is no network activity?
I have tried resetting the camera using the button under the SD card flap but this did not make any difference.
Does it sound like this camera is junk or is there anything else that anyone thinks I may be able to do to rescue it?
All cameras are HikVision DS-2CD2365G1-I 2.8mm
NVR is branded Pyronix but underneath its a HikVision NVR-216K / 16P
All cabling is Cat6
Thanks
G
