Does Cat 6 wire with 23awg work for POE IP cameras?

Yes. Just make sure it's solid copper and not CCA, and solid conductors vs. stranded. Stranded will work, but solid is preferable. (Seems like the word "solid" is used for 2 different things in the context of wire description, just to muddy the waters).

Isn't solid a little difficult to run? I used a 100' stranded wire- pre-molded and seems to work fine.

Do not use stranded. Solid only. Cat5e is much easier to work with than cat6.

On my main camera I'm using the a "100ft Copper 500MHz Cat6a Patch Cable 24AWG Insulation" and the other camera is a "Monoprice stranded, 350Mhz, UTP, Pure Bare Copper Wire, 24AWG, 30ft" cable. What concerns are there with these cables?

Hi @Jake1979

1) Sheathing. You need to check the sheathing rating.

Often stranded cables are used for patch cables and do not have sheathing which is rated for in-wall / riser / plenum.

Also if running outdoors, ideally you should have a cable rated for UV exposure. ( longevity issues )

2) If you decide to patch the cable to a patch panel or keystone jack you want to use solid wires.
